7FW Wide Blade — 3.2mm Cutting Height for Close Body Work
The 7FW is the wide version of the 7F: the same 3.2 mm cutting height, built on a wider cutting surface. That extra width is what changes the job. Where the standard 7F picks its way around faces and legs, the 7FW covers the neck, shoulder, barrel and quarters in fewer passes, so a close body clip or a show preparation takes noticeably less time. It fits the A5 horse hair clipper head, ships complete with a ceramic or stainless steel cutter, and the comb and cutter are available separately as clipper blade parts.

What the 7FW is built for
At 3.2 mm the blade is already in finishing territory. Widening it makes that finish practical on large areas, which is why body work is its main job:
- Close body clips. Neck, shoulder, barrel, flank and quarters taken down to a short, even coat without the blade stepping or wandering.
- Show and sale preparation. A tight, uniform finish over the body on the day, with fewer overlapping passes to blend out.
- Late-season tidy-ups. Removing a grown-out coat on horses in work while leaving enough cover for cool nights.
- Blending large areas. Following a 4F or 4FW pass and stepping the coat down to a shorter length across a wide panel rather than a narrow strip.
- High-volume grooming. Yards and busy groomers who clip several horses a day and need the coverage more than the fine control.
7FW or 7F? Both cut at 3.2 mm — the difference is the width of the cutting surface. The 7FW is the coverage blade for the body; the standard 7F is the control blade for faces, ears, legs and the last few centimetres of a blend line. A professional kit normally carries both.

Ceramic or stainless steel cutter
The blade is supplied complete, and the cutter — the upper, moving part that does the cutting — is available in either material. All three cutters fit the same 7FW comb, so the blade can be sold complete or refreshed later with a replacement cutter instead of replacing the whole unit.

Fits the A5 clipper head
The blade is machined to A5 dimensions — hinge slot, mounting rail, cutter fork and tension point — so it seats on the A5 clippers that the main clippers brands have supported for years. Confirmed fits include:
- Andis: AGC, AGC2, UltraEdge and Super 2-Speed
- Oster: A5, Golden A5 and Turbo A5
- Wahl: KM2, KM5, KM10 and Show Pro
- Heiniger: A5-compatible models such as Saphir
The Oster 76 series and livestock shears use a different, larger blade system and are not A5. A wide blade covers ground quickly, so keep the coat clean and add a drop of clipper blade oil every ten minutes of running time; dirt and dry running are what blunt a blade and leave lines. Sample oil sachets can be packed with the blades on request.
