A5 7F Fine Cutting Blade

7F Fine-Cut Blade — 3.2mm for Close Trimming and Blending

The 7F is the 3.2 mm blade of the A5 range: full tooth, standard width, and the practical step between a shaving #10 and a 9.5 mm body blade. It takes the coat down to roughly an eighth of an inch — short enough for a clean finish on faces, legs and show prep, long enough to leave a little cover on thin-skinned horses. The blade snaps onto any A5 horse hair clipper head, and the comb and cutter are also supplied separately as clipper blade parts for yards that refresh blades instead of replacing them.

7F 3.2 mm standard-width A5 style blade. Full-tooth comb, supplied complete with ceramic or stainless steel cutter, marked 7F for quick identification on the bench.

What the 7F is built for

A 3.2 mm cut is neither a surgical shave nor a body clip. It is the fine end of everyday grooming, and that is exactly where the 7F earns its place in the kit:

  • Faces and heads. Cheeks, jaw, muzzle and the bridle path, where a 9.5 mm blade leaves too much hair but a #10 leaves the skin looking bare.
  • Legs and heels. Taking the coat down around the knee, hock and fetlock so mud and bedding drop off, without clipping into the skin folds.
  • Show and sale preparation. A close, even finish on hunters, cobs and ponies, and a tidy outline on the day of the show rather than a full clip.
  • Blending. Stepping down from a 4F or 4FW body pass to a shorter length at the shoulder, flank and neck so the change of length disappears.
  • Sensitive and thin-skinned horses. Twice the hair left compared with a #10 means less pink skin on show and less chance of a rub or a nick.

7F or #10? A #10 leaves about 1.5 mm; the 7F leaves 3.2 mm — roughly double. Groomers who find a #10 too tight on a face, an ear or a clipped-out leg often finish with the 7F instead. If the coat only needs tidying rather than finishing, step up to the 5F at 6.3 mm.

Where 3.2mm sits in the A5 range

Every blade in the range uses the same A5 head, so the only decision is how much hair to leave. The table shows the models most often ordered together:

BladeCutting heightTypical job
#101.5 mmShow shave, surgical-style prep
7F (this blade)3.2 mmClose trimming, faces, legs, blending
5F6.3 mmTidy-ups and trim clips
4F9.5 mmFull body clip, autumn and winter coats
3F13 mmCoat left on, heavy native coats

Ceramic or stainless steel cutter

The blade is supplied complete, and the cutter — the upper, moving part that does the cutting — is available in either material. All three cutters fit the same 7F comb, so the blade can be sold complete or refreshed later with a replacement cutter.

Cutter options18-teeth ceramic, 25-teeth ceramic, or 22-teeth stainless steel
CeramicRuns cooler and holds its edge longer in clean coat — the usual choice for faces, legs and long show-preparation sessions
Stainless steelTougher and more resistant to chipping — better for coarse, dirty or muddy coats and the lowest replacement cost
7F A5 blade cutter options: 18-teeth ceramic, 25-teeth ceramic and 22-teeth stainless steel cutter
Cutter options for the 7F. 18-teeth ceramic, 25-teeth ceramic and 22-teeth stainless steel cutters — sold on the blade or as separate clipper blade parts.

Fits the A5 clipper head

The blade is machined to A5 dimensions — hinge slot, mounting rail, cutter fork and tension point — so it seats on the A5 clippers that the main clippers brands have been selling for years. Confirmed fits include:

  • Andis: AGC, AGC2, UltraEdge and Super 2-Speed
  • Oster: A5, Golden A5 and Turbo A5
  • Wahl: KM2, KM5, KM10 and Show Pro
  • Heiniger: A5-compatible models such as Saphir

The Oster 76 series and livestock shears use a different, larger blade system and are not A5. Keep the comb clean and add a drop of clipper blade oil every ten minutes of running time; a dry blade runs hot and leaves lines. Sample oil sachets can be packed with the blades on request.

The wider FOLK blade programme

The 7F is one blade in a range built for the three head systems distributors meet most often: the A5 platform, the A-Series for Lister-type clippers and the H-Series for Heiniger-type clippers. Stocking all three from one supplier means a dealer can serve every yard in the area without juggling brands.

All A5 horse clipper blades from Ningbo FOLK Tools: 40, 30, 15, 10, 7F, 5F, 5FW, 4F, 4FW, 3F, 3FW, 7FW and 10W
The A5 range. From close show blades such as 40# and 30# through the 7F at 3.2 mm, the 5F and 4F body blades, up to the 13 mm 3F — plus the wide FW versions for faster body work.
Standard horse clipper blades A-Series compatible with Lister horse clippers: A2, A22, A6 and A7
A-Series for Lister-type clippers. A2, A22, A6 and A7 models in carbon steel, with the same tooth-grinding standards as the A5 line.

Frequently asked questions

What is a 7F blade used for?

The 7F is a 3.2 mm full-tooth A5 blade. It is used for close horse grooming: faces, heads, legs, show preparation and blending the length down between a body blade and a #10.

Is the 7F shorter than a #10?

No — the 7F leaves 3.2 mm of hair and a #10 leaves about 1.5 mm. The 7F sits between the #10 and the 5F, which makes it the safer choice on faces, ears and thin-skinned horses.

Is there a wide version of the 7F?

Yes. The 7FW uses the same cutting height with a wider cutting surface for covering the body faster. The standard 7F stays the better choice for detail work and blend lines.

Which cutter should I choose?

Ceramic for faces, legs and long sessions where heat matters; stainless steel for coarse or dirty coats and the lowest replacement cost. All cutters fit the same 7F comb.

Will it fit my clipper?

If the clipper uses the A5 detachable system, yes. Andis AGC series, Oster A5 series, Wahl KM series and A5-compatible Heiniger models are supported. Lister-type and Heiniger-type heads take the A-Series and H-Series blades instead.

Can I order private-label packaging?

Yes. Logo on the blade, custom blister card and bulk carton are available. Minimum order is 100 pcs, with artwork approval before production.
