The 3FW is the 13 mm member of the A5 blade family: the longest coat length in the range, built on a wider cutting surface for large-area clipping. It is the blade professional grooms reach for when the horse needs to stay warm, when the coat has to keep its natural look, or when a full body clip has to be finished in fewer passes. Like every A5 blade from Ningbo FOLK Tools, it clicks onto the clipper head the customer already owns and is available with a ceramic or stainless steel cutter.

Why the 3FW is the winter and full-body blade
A 13 mm cut leaves a real coat on the horse. That single fact decides where the blade belongs in a professional's kit:
- Cold-weather and full body clipping with coat left on. Horses that live out or work in low temperatures keep insulation and stay comfortable, while the clip still looks deliberate and tidy.
- Sensitive or pink skin. A 13 mm length gives more margin than a short show blade, so there is less risk of taking the coat too close and less exposure to daylight on thin-skinned horses.
- Natural blending. The longer cut softens the transition between clipped body areas and longer hair left on the legs, so the finish looks smooth instead of stepped.
- Large areas, fewer passes. The wide cutting surface covers the neck, chest, shoulder, barrel, back and hindquarters in fewer overlapping strokes than a standard-width blade — less friction, less heat and less time on the horse.
- Heavy coats and native breeds. Draft crosses, cobs and ponies with dense winter hair are handled efficiently without repeated passes over the same patch.
Direction matters. Clipping against the hair gives a shorter result, while clipping with the hair retains more length. On a horse that needs warmth or has sensitive skin, work with the hair where the finish allows it and keep the blade flat and moving.

Ceramic or stainless steel cutter
The cutter is the part that touches the hair, and both options are drop-in parts for the same blade body. That lets a distributor sell the same comb twice: once as a complete blade and once as a replacement cutter when the edge goes.
Ceramic cutter
Runs cooler and holds its edge longer in clean coat. The better choice for long clipping sessions, warm weather, multiple horses in a day and sensitive-skinned horses.
Stainless steel cutter
Tougher and more resistant to chipping. Suits coarse, dense or dirty winter coats, farm and stud use, and buyers who want the lowest replacement cost.
Cutter options for the 3FW. 18-teeth ceramic, 25-teeth ceramic and 22-teeth stainless steel cutters are available as complete blades or as replacement parts.
Fits the A5 clipper head
The blade is built to A5 dimensions — hinge slot, mounting rail, cutter fork and tension point — so it seats on A5 clippers from the major brands. Confirmed fits include:
- Andis: AGC, AGC2, UltraEdge and Super 2-Speed
- Oster: A5, Golden A5 and Turbo A5
- Wahl: KM2, KM5, KM10 and Show Pro
- Heiniger: A5-compatible models such as Saphir
The Oster 76 series and livestock shears use a different, larger blade system and are not A5. For the face, ears, bridle path, elbows, inside of the front legs and the coronet band, step down to a narrower #10 or #15 blade; a wide 13 mm blade is not designed for tight, bony geometry.
